Art & Society Hubs Network – Asia

Our Vision

The vision of the Art & Society Hubs Network – Asia is that arts and culture have strategic importance in developing Asia’s future. We want to see a thriving network of grassroots arts organisations and artists, sharing opportunities and strategies for how arts can make positive change in communities and societies. We want new generations of artists to have easy access to learning, exchange and community with their Asian neighbours.

Hub Partners, Vientiane, 2025

Mekong Cultural Hub initiated the ASH Network Asia in 2023, and we are now in the third phase of development of the network. Together the hub partners aim to nurture and promote artistic creativity, uphold artistic freedom, and amplify diverse grassroots voices. The shared values and focus areas which bring us into collaboration are:

  • A programmatic orientation towards art, culture and society
  • A mission to create opportunities for other people in the arts
  • We work with practitioners from varied artistic disciplines
  • Building regional networks is a core part of what we do and is important to our organisations

Our main work as a network is currently to:

  • Expand networks of art and society practitioners in Asia
  • Promote opportunities for art and society practitioners in Asia
  • Make it easier for practitioners from our target areas to access opportunities
  • Run a Mobility Program to increase exchange and networking within the Mekong Region and Taiwan

During 2026, our work is organised into two main pillars. The first is a Curated Community of Practice, which focuses on peer learning and exchange between the hub partners so we can be more effective in our shared missions of channelling support and opportunities across borders. The second pillar is Projects—collaborative initiatives that deliver the mission of the network in practical ways, including the Mobility Program. Additionally, the network members gather in person at least once a year. The upcoming meeting will be held in December 2026 in Siem Reap.

Heritage Art Space is an independent art organization based in Hanoi, dedicated to supporting and developing contemporary art through interdisciplinary collaboration and international exchange. In line with this mission, our membership in the ASH network unlocks numerous opportunities for collaboration and connection across the Mekong sub-region and Southeast Asia for local artists and cultural practitioners. Furthermore, this partnership strengthens our capacity to work with regional peers while fostering a deeper awareness of the similarities and differences in artistic models, institutions, and practices. Through this engagement, we aim to expand our understanding of the histories and contexts of neighboring countries while staying attuned to the region’s evolving landscape. Cambodian Living Arts’ mission is to be a catalyst in a vibrant arts sector, inspiring new generations. Founded in 1998 with a mission to catalyze a vibrant arts sector, CLA initially focused on reviving and preserving traditional performing arts on the verge of disappearing. During that period, CLA supported master artists in passing their knowledge to over 300 students in various art forms across Cambodia. By the 2010s, CLA shifted toward nurturing a new generation of young artists by offering scholarships, fellowships, fair-paying jobs through regular performance platform, professional development programs, and a five-year pilot arts education program in select public schools. Since 2017, in response to limited resources for artists and cultural workers, CLA has provided small grants, creative skills workshops, and support for new works. Today, CLA supports artists and organizations across all art forms, with an emphasis on strengthening and developing the entire arts sector. You can contact CLA at : info@cambodianlivingarts.org

Hub Associates
