Television (Maho)

Tokyo
Japan
I rarely watch TV. But when the pandemic was unfolding, and the world was anxiously trying to grasp this new virus and disease, I continuously watched the developing news on TV. While the media quickly infected us with a sense of emergency, the reality I witnessed on the ground was ever-peaceful scenes in central Tokyo. Cherry blossoms in full bloom under the moonlight. Children out of school and parents working from home, enjoying the sunlight on a weekday afternoon in a park. Though these utopian sceneries were short-lived, there remains an unbridgeable gap between the screens and my proximate reality.
