My name is Zaw Thu Rein Tun (Nyi Pu), and I was born in 1979 in Sittwe, Rakhine State, Myanmar. I am a filmmaker, cinematographer, photographer, and visual artist based in Yangon, Myanmar.
Through the mediums of film and photography, I create works that reflect and explore the emotions, struggles, psychological resilience, and suppressed voices of people living under Myanmar’s ongoing political oppression and crisis. My artistic practice seeks to document, uncover, and give expression to the lived experiences of those who endure hardship and injustice.
