Green Papaya Art Projects
Giah’s practice embraces social studies, human interaction and material research— producing her art outside the confines of a regular studio to open communal possibilities. Her inquiries on materiality, environment and visual translation inform her interdisciplinary practice and methodology resulting in works on textile, photography, video, or combined-media.
In 2020, she started her passion project Katawhayan creating wearable products from naturally dyed fabrics and at the same time providing raw materials for her textile installations. She also volunteered for Super Inday Art, an arts-based psycho-social support & participatory project in female jail dormitories. In 2023, she became part of Green Papaya Art Projects and is currently the Program Manager of AIRAsia Program. She has also organized several community projects such as the Ilawod, Ilaya in Viva ExCon Antique 2023 together with the fisherfolks community in Antique and Bantayan Island. Giah is also a DAAD Artists-in-Berlin fellow for Visual Arts in 2024. She is currently taking a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology as a learning process of finding agency between personal practice and social inquiry.
